Hello everyone, I am currently using a Denon DVD-1740 HDMI dvd player running through an Onkyo 805 receiver and then to a Benq W500 Lcd projector.

Anyway, I know that this dvd player does not upscale very well and my projector does a great job of scaling. My question is, how do I set the player so that my projector does the scaling and not the dvd player. I have a Pioneer Blu-Ray player connected that has a source direct mode that does this but I am not sure on the dvd player.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance :)

I'm not familiar with the Denon, but the general rule is that you control this by selecting the output resolution of the player:

480i/576i: the display does the deinterlacing and scaling
480p/576p: the player deinterlaces and the display scales
anything else: the player deinterlaces and scales. If the resulting signal is not the native resolution of the display, it will have scale again.

So use 480i or 480p if you want the display to do the scaling.

Awesome Bill, exactly what I was looking for, like I said the main thing is I want the projector to do the scaling.

Thanks for your time

Have a good day!
