So, after searching far and wide, I have not found a solution to ongoing issues with playing 1080p VC-1 backups of my HD-DVDs, so I am asking the experts.
My system is:
Athlon 64 3200+, 2GB RAM, Geforce 8800GT 512MB, Windows 7 RC 1
Xbox 360 HD DVD Drive for ripping
I have MPC-HC and it has worked flawlessly on my old MKV files (h.264) and the new rip I pulled down of Transformers (also h.264). DXVA kicks in as expected and playback is smooth and crystal clear.
I then ripped The Rundown, The Chronicles of Riddick, and Batman Begins from HD-DVD and all of the are encoded in VC-1 on disk. Using Clown_BD to rip down to a TS file, depending on the movie I am either converting audio to AC3 at 640 or DTS. I have not downloaded any crazy codec packs and have followed the guide created by dbone. Still, I find that all of my VC-1 rips do not utilize DXVA in playback and therefore unwatchable.
Looking for suggestions, objective as I back up my HD-DVDs is to have simple setup and then walk away. Don't want 10-12 steps to rip/encode.
HELP!!! What is my best option?
