We're the proud owner of a WD TV HD media player, and after keeping some initial distance my boyfriend is now quite happy that he can turn a little box on and have a whole list of movies he can play at will!

We've had some frustrations with audio sync (or no audio at all), but in general it's still the best media player I've ever used.

Anyway...the main things we think would enhance the whole experience is the ability to flag movies (ie: ones we've watched), have previews of the movies, and have some movie info.

I know you can associate an image with movie files on the WD TV player (like a DVD cover or movie poster), which is fine...but it'd be great to have all the basic info you see on IMDB too.

I guess we can just put preview movies on the player, but it wouldn't look very nice, unless we had a folder just for previews, which again isn't ideal.

It occurs to me that it shouldn't be hard to associate a HTML or some other file with each movie file, which would contain the nicely formatted movie info plus some tags/flags that could be modified by the player or user. I've seen that the Popcorn Hour supports this, and I'm sure other players do too (including AppleTV ?)...but I'd like to see what other have done in this regard.

So...please tell me, if we want a nice GUI, container/codec support as good as or better than the WD TV, and good preview/movie info/flagging support, what are our options?

Cheers :)
Sam
