If we ONLY look at black level and run the projector in a bat cave with black walls, which one will outperforms the other?

The one that has less brightness will outperform as deeper blacks in a "batcave".

I know the RS1 had the bright corners and I dont remember if the RS2 had fixed that or not. Based on why SteveMo says, than the RS2 would be better

Keep in mind that the Epson are not that bright in their best modes. I believe they are usually in the 500 lumen range once calibrated. I thought the JVCs were in the 800 range but I could be wrong.

Since no one has really seen the Epson (isn't shipping yet) we simply don't know. Generally the previous model (6500) tested around 800-900 best case scenario once calibrated. The RS2 was more like 700 best case scenario. In that case, the RS2 had substantially better black levels. But again, with the 8500 being rated way better, we just don't know.
