View Full Version : Screen cleaning problem
Gersh76 10-17-09, 12:07 PM I cleaned a few spots on my pioneer elite screen just using a tiny bit of water and a soft cloth and now I can still see where I used the water. If I'm at a certain angle and the light hits the screen right, the spots show up as slightly bluish tinted spots. Does anyone know what happened? I've cleaned it like this before and never noticed this.
Nicktx27 10-17-09, 12:37 PM did you use distilled water and a microfiber cloth?
joebloggs13 10-17-09, 01:25 PM I dont get it. These companies come out with PLASMA/LCD tv screen cleaning products(monster etc...), yet we can't use them because they damage the anti reflective coating!!??? Why dont Panasonic, Samsung et al. make their own screen cleaning products that work. Then, maybe we wouldn't be running into these problems,

I have been using a spray and microfiber cloth from a company called Purosol for over 6 months on my Pioneer 6020 tv and am very happy with it. Important: I don't work for Purosol and am not compensated from them.

Would you like to place an order for some plasma cleaner specially formulated for the the TV of your choice?
I could probably be bothered to buy some bottles, fill 'em with distilled water, and slap a custom label on it that says "Deluxe Plasma TV Cleaner - Made for ______" for like $100 a bottle. :D
Let me know...

I think what the OP was trying to say was that distilled water wasn't working, and that he was maybe looking for something else to use. I merely stated that products like Monster screen cleaner, while advertising that they ARE for plasma screens, do more harm than good.
Gersh76 10-18-09, 09:53 PM Can anybody offer any advice on what I should do instead of what I should've done?

This has been discussed many times here before. Nothing you can do now. You'll have to live with the mistake. Sorry man.

Hard to say. He only said he tried using water.

TIA

OP, do not listen to above tripe. 4000 posts....sheesh. Use very damp towel over entire surface several times and then buff dry.

I agree. It's important to buff it dry right after you wipe it down with a slightly damp cloth. I also think these screens must be made of stronger stuff (Monty Python Reference) than we think. I'm not saying go to town with some sandpaper to clean those tough spots but just wipe it down with no worries.
booda123 11-22-09, 08:21 PM these are cleaning instructions on my new LG plasma... wet soft cloth in a mixture of lukewarm water and a little fabric softner or dish washing detergent. wring cloth until it's almost dry, and then use to wipe down your screen...make sure excess water is off the screen..and let air dry before ya turn on the tv
