A while back there was a thread about someone's Berkline seating being stuck in the open position and different suggestions were given as to what it could be and what should be done to attempt to fix the situation which involved ordering parts.
I could't find the thread to add this info so I thought I would share what happened last night.
I had this same thing happen to me not long after taking delivery of my seats and it has never happened again until last night. Of course I was concerned when this first happened but not so much yesterday.
If you flip your seat over you will see that the button/switch which controls your seating is connected to the power supply via a telephone jack type connection. The actuator is connected via a 2 prong plastic connector.
What I tried to do first was to connect the switch from a different seat to the one stuck open. I tried this first as I had a lot more slack on the switch connection. Nothing happened.
Then I had to postion one seat on its side (one side of an armless loveseat) and the other on it's back in order for me to be able to connect the power supply of the working seat to the actuator of the stuck seat. Once I did this I was able to close the seat. Once the seat closed I switched the connections back and the seat opened and closed normally with no further problems.
It seems that on very rare occassions (2nd time it has happened to me in just over a year) for what ever reason the reverse function stops working. Once this happens you can continue to open the seat but it won't close. The above step should hopefully help others, at the very least to get seat closed if it is anything else other than the actuator.
