Hopefully some of you kind souls could help steer me in the right direction and dispel some rumors/clarify some things for me.

Anyway, I'm not exactly the most technically savvy; however, I know a beautiful picture when I see one. So, this is what I need to know. I was just looking around and curious what new Pioneer plasmas were going to be coming around the corner. I noticed that the last update/generation was in '08. So, that kinda piqued my interest and I did some googling trying to see when the new models were going to come out, so when I buy, I'd be getting the most current model and not buy a new set, only to have a new one come out a month or two later. Well, I was quite surprised to find out that Pioneer was pulling out of the plasma tv market. By the way, I tried using the search function, but I could not find exact answers to my questions, without trying to sort through post of 500 pages or more.

So, with that being said, is the end to Pioneer tv's entirely true? After reading a few articles I read something about Panasonic and Pioneer working together on a new tv/monitor? Are the current tv's that are out going to be the last by Pioneer? If they are, do you suggest purchasing one right now? And if you suggest purchasing, where is a good/cheap place to buy (I was looking at the Pro-151 or 141FD)? Thanks for the help

Pioneer will not be making any more plasmas, so if you want one, get it soon before they are all gone. Check out Cleveland Plasma and Value Electronics (2 sponsors of the forum -- both have good prices and are reliable).

If you want them cheap, check out the KRP-500m/600m (50"/60"). 500m is <$2000 most places, as low as $1600 or so. 600m is ~$3000.

It's the same display as the Signature Elite, just without the tuner, speakers, or integrated ISF calibration (which however can be unlocked via an unofficial patch). Speakers are ~$300. Most places include a free stand with it. Tuner shouldn't be a big deal if you have a cable box.

So, how do you go about getting this patch for the ISF calibration?

Patch isn't even required unless you want the absolute purest PQ. If you run the break-in slides with DNICE's settings and dial in his reference settings afterwards, you should be very close to correct calibration.

If you want the patch, I believe you have to order it from an unnoficial website.
