this is for a 7.1 system BTW
I found this picture and wondering if that was a good setup for the back speakers?? My couch is against a wall too and my wife doesnt want to re-arrange.
First picture is another persons setup that im asking about and the others are my actual house and couch

Why do you need 7.1? For a situation like yours, in which 7.1 placement isn't even close to optimal, I'd say stick with 5.1. I, personally, would rather have a great 5.1 setup than a mediocre 7.1 setup.
The rest is up to your ears.

looks like it'll work....
Well here goes my .02 worth. I'm with the poster who initially questions the "need" for a 7.1 setup with your current configuration. Here are a couple of websites for you to look at to get an idea what options are available to you.
Dolby recommendations here (http://www.dolby.com/consumer/home_entertainment/speaker-setup-guide/index.html).
THX recommendations here (http://www.thx.com/home/setup/speakers/index.html).
This will give you a good guide and a reference source so you can educate yourself and get the optimum results for your particular situation.
How does it sound to you? If it sounds ok to you then your set. If your like me and like to tinker, and tweak at times to see if you can improve your setup (which you more than likely can) then you have some basic things to learn and consider and the above websites can help you out. Here is another suggestion. Do you have a THX DVD such as the The first three Starwars (the last three made) or say the Incredibles, Cars, or Finding Nemo? On those discs there is a THX optimizer for audio and video tests that will help you set up your system for better performance. This will also help you decide if you are getting the full benefit of 7.1 or if the sound is getting muddled together due to the close proximity of all of your back/surround speakers.
Good luck and I hope I have helped rather than confuse.

The optimizer has a video section as well and while obviously not as good as a professional calibration it can help you set up your display for a better picture as well as tweaking the sound.
Glad I could help.
