My wife and I have been building a house, for well, a really long time. So we have been looking at theater chairs on and off for awhile.
First off, I will not buy a chair, any chair, without sitting in it first.
We tested the berklines and they weren't for us. People have recommended fortress, but I am not thrilled with the price, and I still would need one to sit in.
So far our favorite chair, in comfort and value is the barcalounger premier. But because I am obsessive about whatever I buy, I keep looking anyway.
Our original seating design was a bit odd, it had 2 love seats and a single end seat on each row. If I go Jaymar I can get 3 love seats on each row and take up less space, primarily because the Jaymar uses a 22" width seat, as opposed to the Barca 26" width. I could get there with fortress, and use retractable armrests, but ugg, it looks like 2x the price.
So this raises 2 questions:
1) I am in Las Vegas, and cant really find a jaymar or fortress to sit in. I am tempted to buy 1 and just use it as a recliner in another room whether we like it or not. Anyone know where I can sit in one of these before buying? If you are in vegas, and have either one of these, I can get you some good references before you invite me over. And maybe a nice dinner somewhere to return the favor!
2) Any opinions on the 3 love seat config? The pros are probably obvious, the cons are also (the 2 men sitting on opposite ends of the sofa thing)? Also any opinions on 22 v 26" seat width? I figured love seats could give me best of both worlds, if someone is large they could use "1.5 seats" whereas in a typical seat, well, not so much.
Anyway, opinions solicited.
