Im wondering if there is any way to get the premium stations without buying a cable/dish subscription?
Someone told me that Starz does a-la-carte sales of their content???
If cable/dish sells the premium channels for $15, how much of that goes to the premium channel? Why not have premium channels sell directly to subscribers?
Also, does anyone know if the streaming Starz a-la-carte is recordable on a DVR? If it comes through a web connection is that atsc or quam or a different standard? Or does that have to plug into the back of a web enabled HDTV like what netflix does?
Im wondering if there is any way to get the premium stations without buying a cable/dish subscription? Not legally.

I'm not aware of any Starz a-la-carte, but if you happen to have Netflix "watch instantly" streaming (either via a PC, Roku, or other Netflix streaming-capable device) you would have access to at least 1,000 "Starz Play" titles, including some of the same Starz titles running on cable and satellite. It's a deal Netflix inked with Starz about a year ago. The quality isn't HD, but watchable (better than Dish SD anyway).

That's it! Does HBO have something like this to watch HBO original series? I would like to watch the new season of Eastbound and Down which will only run for 2 months. I'd like to subscribe while that show is airing and cancel after the episodes air.

I don't recall HBO series on Netflix, but many of the past seasons for Showtime original programming are available.
