View Full Version : Scientific Atlanta Explorer*4240 remote default volume
b2daisa 10-19-09, 10:54 PM I am having trouble finding an answer to my question. My scientific Atlanta remotes default volume device was changed by the cable man to my cable box I want to change it back to tv. Anybody have any idea how to do this? I have seen some places say to hold the cable button and sel button for 3 seconds but this doesn't seem to do anything on my remote.
b2daisa 10-20-09, 10:33 PM Anybody?
Can you give us a model number or description of the remote, or a link to a picture of it?

Here's more than you probably want to know about the varieties of Atlas remotes:http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8508

thank you so much i think that solved my problem i will test this out soon as i go to bed :)
b2daisa 10-21-09, 01:47 AM That worked perfectly thank you. You wouldn't happen to be able to do the power key the same way would you?
Try pressing and releasing Setup then Power. That may affect only the active device, assuming that's what you're after. You can't change the master power macro on these remotes unfortunately. If that doesn't work, you should be able to keymove power to about any other key you like. Pip on/off would be my choice. To do that, hold Setup for 2 blinks then release, press 9 9 4, press CBL, Power, Pip on/off (2 blinks). Repeat for the other modes, substituting CBL with TV, AUX, etc. Now each device's power function is on the Pip On/Off key, and master power still turns everything on and off.

that kinda sounds like what i need but let me explain further just to make sure. when my remote is controlling the cable box and i press power it turns off the cable box i would like for it to turn off the tv. the way i read what you typed was it would just move the current devices power key to another one on the same device selection.
OK, that's different. Sounds like power isn't turning off everything like I thought. In that case you may be able to key move TV power to CBL mode like so: Hold Setup for 2 blinks then release, press 994, press TV, Power, CBL, Power (2 blinks). That should copy TV power to CBL power. If that doesn't work, try putting it on the Pip on/off key: Setup for 2 blinks, 994, TV, power, CBL, pip on/off (2 blinks). That will copy TV power to CBL pip on/off.
Just so you understand what's going on, pressing setup - 994 starts key move/copy programming. Then you press the source device followed by the button you want to copy. Then you press the destination device followed by the destination button. If you aren't going to a differnent device, you can leave out the device key presses like I did in my previous post.
