I have a 2008 Sony LCD (KDL-52WL140) with some sort of frame insertion, b/c when I turn on "cinemotion" I get the "soap opera" look. It's an interesting effect, but it's also slightly unreal on material other than sports.

Anyway, watching it makes me feel slightly queasy. I'm not normally prone to motion sickness. I watched TDK on a (real) IMAX screen 3rd row from front without any ill effect other than a stiff neck. I don't know if a) I'm just used to a bit of motion blur/judder; b) the FI in that particular model isn't very good; c) FI, or the current state of it anyway, somehow pushes us into some kind of Uncanny Valley of moving images.

I haven't seen FI in a projector yet. Is the effect more pronounced, or less?

I wouldn't say personally it makes me queezy, but, I don't particularly enjoy it either and I definitely could see where it could make someone who was sensitive feel ill.

Only thing that makes me nauseous about FI are these endless discussions about FI. ;)

If you like it use it. If you don't, turn it off.

Ya lets not discuss it.
Not like this is a forum for discussing av/projectors and technology.

Whats with all the covert jabs and negativity lately!?

Hadn't even considered that as a possibility.

However, what does make me a bit queasy is not having the option of even not so perfectly implemented FI on my Viewsonic Pro8100 , for sports!!! Possibly made worse due to my provider(DishNetwork) compressing the original signal...

I now know what my wish list will include upon upgrade in 2012 ;)

It makes me annoyed sometimes when the artifacts are distracting - but not physically queasy.

Not that I have first hand knowledge, but if you really oversaturate the colors and turn the FI up to max, reportedly you will enjoy it if you are moderately stoned.

If you get a bit more than "moderately" stoned FI can make this happen...
