I've found a database of 'IR Codes' for a large number of devices that is designed for use with the Pronto line of remotes. I don't have a Pronto. The database consists of a set of tables linked together from which I can query for 'IR Code' by brand, function, etc. I've been able to get the string:

'EECF0080007D0000FFFF00720100000804C549D05A9542074245440723B F85AD41615404E851CBC6C8DEA94627854C68635B8126B868070B2A09E9B DBDD818C2F131E9E8E7A5D1E39D2D3265580EB7BFC7518C06A0B117E6CF1 ACCC4AF815076F846E241E16BAD268B053E2DA1C34BA4CD07F2030D49AC4 2B355869DCFACF61E'

for a function that I need ('PowerOn' for the Sony HTCT-500, in this case). This doesn't look like a format that I am familiar with, nor is the Harmony support team able to convert it to something they can import. Does any one know what kind of encoding might be used here? This looks to be the only source for a handful of discrete codes that I need.

that's hex code... which if parsed correctly, should be able to be added to your harmony profile...

if you link us to the database where you got it from, maybe we can help... :)

The database came from here:

http://www.pronto.philips.com/index.cfm?id=959

It's a SQLLite 3 database with fairly intuitive internal structure. It will open with ProntoEdit Pro 2, but I can't figure out how to display the IR code in a more consumable format.

I know that there are a few valid hex codes use to define IR comms, but this does not match any spec that I can find. The apps that program the Pronto devices must be able to interpret this...

Many thanks for your knowledge.

Edit: This database appears to contain the much sought after Vizio discrete codes... I know many people are looking for those.

Have you tried reaching out to the guys at Only 1 Remote (http://www.onlyoneremote.com/) to see if they could help? I know they spent a ton of time putting this revolutionary database and their support is the best in the business. I think the only reason that they may not be willing to give you the codes is to protect the time, effort and intellectual property they put into designing this and licensing it to Philips.

You should post this question in the JP1 forums at hifi-remote.com. It's not any format I've ever seen either, but if anybody can decode it, they can. But they'll need to know what you're trying to load it into and what format you need it in. We (JP1er's) already know the code for your power on. It's probably protocol Sony15, device 48, button code 46.

We also know all the vizio discrete codes. We just don't know what format you need them in.

There's also a fantastic code search tool on that site HERE (http://www.hifi-remote.com/jp1/lookup/).

Wow - the JP1 forum is FULL of information. My head hurts. I'm not sure I understand it yet, but I'll get there.

I didn't consider that there might be IP issues with the O1R database, but even after skimming their site content, I still don't get the idea that use outside the Pronto realm is disallowed. They should make this clear, if it is in fact the case. All the same, I'm abandoning that route since JP1 seems to have everything I could desire (and far more).
