I just received a MRF-350 to replace an MRF-260 that I am using with the MX-810 remote. I ordered the unit from Amazon -- and the order was fulfilled by Electronica Direct. I am pretty sure that the unit I received is defective, but wanted to make sure before returning the unit. Here is what is happening:

1) When I turn it on power LED turns on and the status LED blinks briefly and then goes off. Maybe this is OK.

2) I have the RFX-250 FR sensor connected with the 3.5 mm plugs, but none of the lights on the RFX-250 ever light up

3) I have the RF ID# on the bottom of the MRF-350 set to 9 just like the MR-260. However, neither the front blaster or the wired emitters light when I push a button on the MX-810. I have the MRF-260 sitting right next to it with the same ID# and it blinks away when I push on the MX-810.

4) This seems really weird. On top of the MRF-350 are the output level adjusters. However, there are just holes in the top of the plastic with no knobs or anything sticking out to adjust.

Does it seem like I got a defective unit?

odd... the power light on the rfx-250 should come on when it's connected to the mrf-350... which would indicate either the rfx or the mrf are bad (or, more unlikely, the cable is bad)...

since the rfx doesn't think it's connected to anything, it's not surprising that the mrf isn't outputting anything, as it's not getting a signal...

not sure which one is bad though...

drag... wish there was a better answer... :(

Well, the easy thing would be to the try a different cable. I didn't think of that.

I replaced the cable and that fixed the problem. I then tried the original cable again and it all works now. Weird. Thanks for the tip. So far I really like this base station with the ability to relocate the RF receiver and all the adjustable outputs.

good deal! i like easy fixes... :)

who knows? maybe there was a bit of crud in one of the ports that got dislodged when you removed the cable and inserted the new one...

Sometimes you just need to *smack* it with a *wrench*.

Works for my car!
