I wanted to buy Infinity Betas ... most reviews I read sort of stated, that there is nothing comparable at the price: Excellent Center, Power in the Beta 50ies, great Highs due to CMMD tweeter and very musical, while still having excellent Homecinema performance.

Now they're gone and I'm a bit frustrated, as I can't recall any other wpeaker series getting a similar wave of positive opinions for a comparable price (i.e. here in Switzerland 550ish USD per Beta 50 etc).

Does anyone recall very good reviews of something in the same pricerange, i.e. 2000ish USD for two big fronts, an excellent (!) center and two solid, but smaller rears? I abhor all these "surround sets" and am looking for real speakers but atm, can't come up with something, that has the performance of the Betas. I know there's plenty at that price, but nothing as good it seems.

Ah well .... a tiny bit frustrated atm...

EDIT:

After a quick glance, there are some more expensive ones, that might be interesting:

- Magnat 705
- Elac FS 187 (Jet Tweeter, hmm...)

Opionions? Their centers are nearly never mentioned anywhere, so I wonder..

If you want something like the betas you can go with the 'infinity classia' series a couple of towers go for about $1000 USD so I think you can get a full 5 channel setup for $2000. see below the email I received from Harman audio and the link to the 'beta owners threat' where some members discuss the similarities between the classia and betas. In the USA you can still find betas on ebay and craiglist, eeven the c250 and beta20 are available from some online dealers.

Thank you for your inquiry. The Primus series is the lower end series. The Beta series were a step above that. If you want to upgrade, the Classia series would be the way to go. This is basically the replacement for the Beta series.

I hope this helps.
