Wondering if anyone can help with this.

Have a new WD TV Live HD Network Media Player. Previously using Tversity with the HR20, Mediagate MG350HD and XBMC on Windows without any issuses. When I connect the WD and try to access Tversity, everything looks as expected except when I play AVIs (any DivX or Xvid), it would play a few seconds and then start to stutter. All other files like MPG and WMV played well.

OK, so my quick workaround was to simply transcode AVIs to MPGs/WMVs and get them to play. So I see that Tversity recognises the WD as a DSM-750. I edit the profiles.xml and find the section on the DSM-750. I change the transcoding target to be MPG and I delete all media types referring to AVI containers. I save my changes and restart Tversity. I then try to play an AVI file and it still tries to play it natively (ie. in the Tversity client, I can see no transcoding going on) and I get the stuttering.

Ultimately, I got it to work by changing the transcoding options to ALWAYS for both the SETTINGS and under the media library. Now when I play, it does indeed transcode and it plays properly on my WD TV Live.

So questions are:
1. Any idea why the AVIs won't play natively (as I believe the WD should be able to handle these)?
2. Any idea why my update of the profiles.xml did not force Tversity to transcode the files automatically?

I don't want to leave it like this because my other device do not always need the transcoding (except the HR20). I would prefer to set everything to ONLY WHEN NEEDED.
Any help is appreciated. Regards,

I found Tversity to be the big PITA. I have used PLAY ON to stream Internet video and shared media on my PC and found to be much less resource hog.

Too bad that HULU and NETFLlX do not stream to Canada :(
