Here are my initial impressions of fw 2.0.0b2:

The HD GUI is a vast improvement. For the Samsung 32" LCD HDTV that I use for the bedroom however (which is 1366 x 768) it looks better to set the resolution to 720p instead of 1080i. It would be nice to have an option to set the output to the LCD's native 1366 x 768.

It continues to play everything I have, though in some xvids there are a few sputters/dropped frames.

Preview mode now shows the Folder.jpg in high resolution. I've placed movie posters from www.impawards.com (http://www.impawards.com) into each of the movie folders. Looks great. One problem however, it does not display progressive JPGs properly, this will need to be fixed.

It's a welcomed improvement over that latest 1.0.3.1. Wireless connection seems improved, though more should be done in this area. (I have the Xtreamer mapped to drive X: on my PC downstairs and would love to be able to transfer a >500MB file wirelessly to the attached USB HDD. Right now this is a no-go, and attempting to do so results in the Xtreamer hanging. This happened in 1.0.3.1 as well).

Miscellaneous items I would like to see included in the final release -- a basic calibration tool that would allow me to adjust the brightness/contrast/color/sharpness on my HDTV. I would also like to have the ability to customize the GUI and upload new skins/themes.

11. Internet Video preview displays current time/total time and progress bar with buffering bar.
12. Rewind, Fast Forward button added in virtual remote control.
13. Fan speed manual setting from 0 ~ 200.
14. UTF8/UTF16 auto detection when no selection of Unicode in SUB-T/ID3TAG .
15. Booting time decreased
A. Normally 25~30 sec[varies for HDMI detection & HDD or USB].
16. Moved playback of movie preparation time after clicking play button.
17. Font size and status icons size increased a little for SD TV user.
18. Detection of external ODD improved.
A. If can’t detect, go to “Home” and press “Eject”. It will retry to detect.
B. To eject DVD go to “Home” menu and press “Eject” button(when DVD is detected).
19. Audio Jukebox UI changed.
20. Changed fast forward from 1.1X to 0.8X in video playback.
21. Fast forward from 1.0X to 2.0X displays subtitle also.
22. Delete function added to remote control “Delete” (3) button.

Yes, a real shame, but a good excuse for buying the WDTV insteadI had the WDTV Live two weeks ago, it would not play some of the video files I had.

Look for 2.0.b4 in google. I found it in a french website. Just tested 2.0.b4 and FLAC with tagged is working fine. As I'm using wired connection, playing 1080p mkv and m2ts is flawless. Previously on 1.0.3 any 1080p movie will stutter.

Anyone who installs new firmware for the Xtreamer (whether it be official or beta) are recommended to reset to defaults and reboot after the upgrade. Failing to do so could be one reason why some would have issues not playing certain files.

Bitstreaming of DTS-HD and TrueHD?

I just tried 2.0.b4. Doesn't address any of my 1.0.3 issues: 1) HDMI issues with my Anthem D2v and 2) Jerky 1080p play back over wired ethernet.

Yes, I did the "reset". Hopefully the final GA version will adress these issues, otherwise it's off to the office system...

No bitstreaming of DTS-MA or DDTHD yet. DTS-MA down converted to DTS, DDTHD is stereo. However, there were some improvements in audio processing. In the previous version, LPCM had no sound. There is sound for LPCM in this version.

hi, ok, I test beta 2.0.0.4 playing 1080p mkv and m2ts is good, it´s very fast but i think i loose the syncronize wiht tv. the TV sometimes display hdmi imput 1080.

It´s more better than 2.0.02 becouse
this realesse have very problems wiht audio and movie will stutter

Previously on 1.0.3 any 1080p movie will flawless, sometimes only whit MKV, the extremaer freeze and loose hard drive until until five secons
