First episode on the PSN tomorrow for free, a bundle for the rest will be $2.50 total (minor spoilers): (http://ps3.ign.com/articles/103/1037461p1.html)

The story will follow Drake as he teams up with a Daniel Pinkerton, an American who has become a big bad criminal in Indonesia. Now, Drake usually doesn't team with the really bad guys, but in this prequel he's trying to save up the money to raise Sir Francis Drake's casket. He's desperate and willing to do what he has to, according to Neil Druckmann, Naughty Dog co-lead game designer and the writer of these Motion Comics.

"Here, he's willingly getting hired by a known criminal," Druckmann said about delving into Nate's shady past. "It's still Drake. He's got his good side."

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is out, you're playing it, and you love it. Even if you're just joining the tale of Nathan Drake you probably have a pretty good idea of what happened in the first game, but you can always double back and play the IGN PlayStation 3 Game of the Year 2007.

But what about before that?

Tomorrow, Sony and Naughty Dog are kicking off a four-part motion comic on the PlayStation Network set a few months before the opening of Uncharted: Among Thieves. These comics were penciled by Marco Castiello of Witchblade fame and then broken up and animated by Sony. There's movement, voice work, particle effects, and more. Want a taste? Click on the movie below – this isn't what you're going to see tomorrow; instead, this is an extra special example. This is Uncharted: Drake's Fortune in the motion comic styling and not tomorrow's PSN prequel.

The duo is on the trail of the Eye of Indra, but Sony's promising that a whole bunch of familiar faces from both games are going to pop up in the four-part adventure. A new love interest will play into the comics (Nate, you cad!), but the cast members you know and love from the games are on hand to reprise their roles and Naughty Dog even let them stick to the traditional format of improvising some of their lines.

The episodes should be about five minutes each. Tomorrow's will be free, but the rest are coming at the end of November and will be sold individually and as a $2.49 bundle.

Didn't expect to see it this soon. Honestly I'd much rather see this as a fully animated mini-series but this is cool too. Having the original cast is the important thing.

...set a few months before the opening of Uncharted: Among Thieves. That should read "set before Uncharted: Drake's Fortune", right?

Yeah, Drakes as that's how Drakes starts.

Not bad, here's hoping to them being 10 min videos, not 2:30. Still, I'm getting them immediately.

Is there any copy protection on stuff like this? It be nice to joint them together or burn to a BD ROM.

Not bad, not bad. The first episode's about 7 minutes minus commercials. It looks like a regular mp4 file so you should be able to copy/burn it. The opening credit sequence is awesome.

I had to get this from my US PSN account... Sony really needs to get to work on the video store for Canadians.

It definitely caught my interest. I would like to see some other games come out with something similar, perhaps the MGS series.

Where can I find this? I am in the US, but I can't seem to find it in either "Game" or "Video" sections. Did they pull it already?

Thanks

Edit: nvm found it.

I am not really impressed at all.. just looks like something that was whipped out quickly to monetize the game hype. Are these per pay thing?

For an animated comic I was expecting something like The Watchmen on Blu-ray.. now that was a comic but it was animated. It was actually very nice to watch it. It didn't feel like a traditional comic.

What are you talking about? It's done in the EXACT same way as the Watchmen animated comic! If anything, this Uncharted mini-episode improves on the Watchmen comic because at least with Uncharted you have different actors voicing the different characters.

That's right, for those that don't know there is just ONE actor who does all the voices (including all the females) for that 5 1/2 hour Watchmen story. Other than that though, it is an awesome tale.

I just watched it, I didn't think I'd enjoy it as much as I did, I'd love if they did more series like this.

Loved it, with two small gripes.

It's voiced over; no need for the emotes, dialogue bubbles, plot bubbles, ect. A few here and there, but it really is distracting IMO.

Nate looks off to me.

I don't know how anybody could have missed that.

As for this Uncharted motion comic, it was alright. That 4runner ad in the middle was awful.

Yeah I plan on copying it to my PC and editing out that part. They also have a 4runner in the UC2 Home space. I recommend checking out the space.

I only watched the clip once... how did I miss the ad? If there is a commercial in the middle, that's awful. I'll wait to hear about the others before I commit to a purchase.

It's funny, because it's done in the same comic style. I thought it was part of the story, even if it contrasted very different with the scene before it, before realizing it was an ad.

Little distracting, but it was quick and actually pretty cute, because it played off of Elena and Drake, and her rather funny ability to be at the right place at the right time, behind the wheel.

My guess is it's why were getting them so cheap. Deadspace released comics, but they weren't technically "free" either, as they probably offset the free mini-comics with the cost of the prequel motion flick; already having the resources put together to create it.

BTW, WTH is this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BddbXl3QJY

Would love if they did a full recap of DF...

I didn't mind the ad really. It was in the style of the game and comic and had Elena in it.

Nate looks off to me.Yeah, Nate never looked quite right. I liked the fact that he was in his old baseball shirt though. Nice touch.
