I am thinking about etching a bar mirror with a logo or something - if anyone has done this I would appreciate some pics and what product(s) were used.

Didn't etch these, but I found these decals on ebay and it ended up turning out pretty nice:

Looks cool. Are they just stickers? How did you search them on ebay?

Sand blaster works pretty good. Mask off design with a couple of layers of good masking tape. Small blasting gun are available that make it affordable and easy. Try http://search.eastwood.com/search?asug=&w=sand+blast&p=Q&ts=custom here.

cpotteke22, I like how you did that with you mirror and those decals (although as a Bears and Cubs fan I have to take issue with actual subject matter ;)) I want to replicate this with my bar.

This is the backbar from my favorite bar from college. I'm also planning to model my whole backbar after it, not just the mirror. I had looked at trying to get the actual glass etching chemicals, but I'm not to sure of how it would turn out. My wife is really into scrapbooking and she has this thing called a Cricut or something like that. It's basically a little 2 dimension CNC machine. So I'm thinking of getting some sheets of frosted decals and using that to produce the letters I need as I don't know that I would be able to find decals premade like these letters.

The decals do work great. In commercial jobs, 90% of the time when you see some "etchings" on glass it is these decals. Unless it is an old piece.

You can go to a arts and craft store and get etching cream cheap..just tape the mirror and cut out your design (allows for free form design if you want or get that laminate paper that sticks to school books) and put the cream on it per directions, rinse and it is permantenly etched without worrying about blasting too much off. You can then get a gold or silver metalic cream (forget what type) and buff that into the etch..gives an awesome appearance. I made up some mirrors for presents years ago so I do not have any photos..but if you search for craft and etching cream you will see plenty of sites with pics..

Take the mirror you want etched and a photo of how you want it to look to a local sandblaster. They can do it correctly and ALOT less expensive than buying the equipment and the learning curve that goes with it. I have a buddy who does sandblasting and it is amazing what can be done.

Buy the vinyl stickers that look etched already and get your logo cut. It looks great and you can always change it later on if you get bored. ;)

Any Sign Shop will have it in stock.
