So I preordered a copy (something I never do) because I had a Amazon credit and they sent an email stating that will issue a store credit of $5 for future video game purchases as a result of this purchase. Then yesterday I receive an email that I get a $15 credit instead, and then today I receive another saying they have upped it again and I will receive a $20 credit!

My guess is that they aren't going to be able to fill initial orders and this is their way to compensate...what do you guys think? Seems strange....

You can buy SCEA games from amazon, you get a code sent to you. You can also gift them. They have had a few sales too.

I think that Walmart is giving a $20 GC for pre-ordering as well. My understanding is that Amazon increased their credit in response to Walmart. Either way, really good deal for a new game (the best deal would be just to sell the game for $39.99, but we know that is unlikely to happen).

Yes I chose release day delivery and it wasnt that much. It was $5.98 for release day delivery

Buy it from amazon and while you're waiting for it purchase it from Game Stop. When the amazon copy comes in return it with the Game Stop receipt. Epic victory!

When it's a single player game, I can handle waiting a while to pick it up.

But if it's a game that I'll be playing 99% of the time online, I always feel a little extra rush to get it as soon as possible just so I don't get absolutely decimated by more experienced players when I finally do jump in.

I fought thru it with Warhawk and am glad I did because I love that game now that I can give as good as I get, but I pity the fool that has to learn it now.

I'm willing to bet, while well received, the reviews as a whole will be more nuanced then you'd think they would be. Everything I'm seeing with MW2 is it's MW with new maps, modes and weapons. Little if any update on the engine, and the SP is probably going to be along the lines of W@W\MW1.

The sites that aren't getting exclusivity or payola ad revenue; I think you'll see them docking points. Not that that makes it a bad game, just that they're riding the gravy train and haven't gone above and beyond what they did in MW.

U2 also was put up against MW2 at several shows already and got Best of Show.

I hope GOTY is not based on unit sales... I should hold off judgement until I play MW2 campaign, but after playing Uncharted 2 campaign its hard for me to believe that MW2 campaign can out do what ND put together.

If i didnt care then i would have chose FREE 5-9 day shipping but i want the game on the day it releases so you know.. thats why i pay for release day shipping and they MUST deliver it to me on the release day.

This is an exceptional deal. A couple notes:

- This is not a b2g1 deal, this is better (imo) as you can get 3x $30 games, 4x $20 games, or any combination and still get a $40 credit for ~$100 purchase. Compare that to a B2G1 deal where you are limited to only 2 games to get the $40 credit (or $60 or w/e).
- Also, simultaneously, Amazon is offering a $20 credit if you preorder Modern Warfare 2 with them. Combine the two offers here and you will have a $60 credit!! That means the next new release you want is free! Or you could use it now towards some recent release like Uncharted 2, Borderlands, Demon Souls, Brutal Legend, etc.
