the color red on faces, clothing, etc. for several hours before jumping back to normal color.

It started out doing this for a few minutes then acting normal but has gotten worse in the last month or so.

The TV is about 7 years old and has been great up to now.

I just want to make sure that it isn't anything extra expensive before undertaking a repair or I'll just purchase a new one.

If anyone has any kind of idea what causes this I would like to thank you in advance.

I can't help you with this one myself, but others probably can if you post the exact model number of the set and as many details as you're aware of. Screenshots always help, too.
