Hi, everyone I hope to get some feedback on the following (Sorry its so long I hope it wont put to manny off :-)

I'm going to invest in a universal remote and think that the harmony 890 or the 900 could be the right one for me... Here is my thoughts and questions so far:

I'm leaning towards the 900 because of the IR blasters, rather then the IR emitters on the 890. Reason for this is that the equipment that I want to control is in my home theatre room, and While I'm in that room I still want to be able to operate the equipment with the original remotes. (I guess that the emitters mounted on/over the IR receivers will be blocking IR signals not coming from the emitters them self, as from, - say an original remote?!)

On the other hand, I have read about the rather short RF range of the 900 and that might be a problem, I'm not sure though. To give you an image of the conditions I'm in, I have a Logitech Bluetooth keyboard (the diNovo) in the room with the equipment to control (home theatre room), which is working fine from the couch in the TV room. (where I will be using the universal remote) I'm thinking if Bluetooth 2.0 works fine, Id think that the 900 should also be working just fine... What do you think?

Another thing that I'm thinking about is the short Activities macro list on the rather small display on the 900. Is it possible to chose which room you are in? Like it seams you can do on the 890?
The thing is that In my set up I have a Yamaha receiver in the Home theatre room, to this receiver is hook a blue-ray player, an old tape recorder, a computer, The living room TV, a projector, a digital TV set top box and maybe a future game console.
The receiver is supplying audio to: My 7.1 home theatre setup in the home theatre room, to the living room both for TV audio and music. It is also supplying audio to the kitchen for music. These 3 rooms is powered or amplified zones on the Yamaha. There is a forth zone through signal cable from the receiver, to the bathroom, also for music.
In the kitchen is going to be a smaller TV set, which Id also like to be able to control with IR from the universal remote.

So as you can see, simply pressing listen to music (like it appears to be working on the 900) is not quiet enough. I need to be able to decide which room... So anyone know, if after pressing listen to music, you get to decide which room to start listening to music, if you that same option in several rooms?
On the other hand, this seams to be quiet straight forward on the 890, as the photos I have seen of the remote display, have a living room icon in the upper left corner..!?

Another question, Is it possible to get IR blasters, like those coming with the 900, for the 890 instead of the IR emitters? I don't mind getting third party blasters, if it will work. I'm hoping to stay under 400$ for the whole setup.
I have also been thinking about the 890 Pro, but it seams to be much like the 890, only I have to get the RF stuff separately, just adding to the price..? If I missed out on something about the 890Pro, Id like to hear about it.

Also If what I described above is totally impossible to achieve with the harmony line of URC's then I'm open towards other products, but please consider that this stuff is going to be used in Denmark Europe and the logitech products enjoys great support towards working with/supports European products. Some thing that I doubt many of the other products, like the URC line of products, does.

Thanks for reading all of this, looking forward to hearing from you all. :-)

1. the ir blaster tip cables CAN be placed directly onthe ir receivers of the devices, but they don't have to be. also, keep in mind that using the original remotes to alter power or input states of devices will confuse the harmony smart state tracking. harmony remotes are meant to be the ONLY remote in use
2. photos are misleading on the 890 and the 890Pro, neither prompts you with a room selection first and then a list of room specific activities
3. while the 900 screen only shows 3 activities at a time, I beleive you can setup 255 or 256 activities and they'll show on other "pages" of the screen that you can scroll to
4. for your multiple room setup you'll have to setup activities like "listen to music (LR)" and "listen to music (k)" etc...there is no "tiered" activity selection (of roomand then activity or activity and then room) on any harmony model
5. keep in mind that harmonies work very well when only using on activity at a time. if you plan on having music play in the bathroom and tv on in the living room at the same time, programming is going to "get interesting" to say the least
6. you definitely can use ir blaster tip cables with the 900 blaster (I do this myself). you just need a mono 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter (it MUST be mono)
7. the 890Pro adds better control of multiple rooms because it allows multiple remotes to be paired with a single blaster. the benefit is that with the 890Pro, there is communication between remotes so that remote 2 knows what state the devices are I. based on the activity state that remote 1 is in. the 890Pro is not sold with the extender because a person may be purchasing it as a secondary remote

To add one additional point. The 890 PRO's Wireless RF Extender has an integral IR blaster as an option in addition to the four wired Ports. In my experience, that blaster is quite robust.

correct, sorry for not pointing that out
logitech changed the name from the "extender" to "blaster" because they found many people didn't realize the extender itself can send out ir signals

also as an FYI, the same extender works with the 890, 890Pro, 1000 and 1100
the 900 has a new style blaster on a different protocol that only works with the 900

updates on the older remotes require connecting the extender as well...meanwhile with the 900 you only update the remote and the. the remote updates the blaster wirelessly
