Hi

I have a question and hoping all you experts here can help me out. I currently have a Onkyo 875 receiver and all my component is hook up to it. As for the tv I have the Sony VPL-HW10. My question is on the receiver should I set it up to pass through or upconvert to 1080p? My three main sources is Sony bluray, PS3 and HD cable box.

Thanks in advance.

You'd have to experiment, but I would suspect the Onkyo will do a better job than the Sony itself. Of course for BD and PS3 they'll output 1080p anyways.

Thanks for your reply Jason, so as long as my sources sends out 1080p signal, the receiver will not do anything too it right?

Thanks

If in bypass mode that is technically true (though some receivers never have a true bypass mode...that is a better question for the Onkyo thread). What I don't know is if you can have the scaling on for certain inputs and not others. If you could, I'd turn it on for your cable, and leave it off for the others.

Thanks, On my receiver it is either pass through or 1080p, so my best option is to set it as pass through and leave my cable box as 1080i. The only benefit I see is the receiver will upscaled to 1080p via HQV Reon-VX, but since it wont do anything to 1080p signal, I should leave it as it then. Do you think its the best option?

I agree. Plus cable is so so anyways so you need a super VP to make any sort of difference.
