View Full Version : DLP or Plasma icebear518 10-25-09, 06:10 AM right now i have a philips 50pf9431D and i just got a offer on a RCA HD50LPW175 DLP tv i mostly just play games and since i had my plasma im scared that stuff will get burn in which tv would be better for gaming? walford 10-25-09, 09:35 AM I can think of no reason to replace a 1366x768 50" plasma TV with a 1280x720 DLP even if you get it for free. Gaming is most likely better on the higher resolution Plasma and you have the cost of new bulbs when required for the DLP. If you have been carefull to prevent burn in the past I don't know why you should worry about it in the future. Save your money for a new fullHD 1080p Plasma or LCD model. I understand that the burn in probability is greatly reduced in current generation Plasmas. icebear518 10-25-09, 02:42 PM well he showed me a recipt and he put a brand new color wheel and lamp in it 2 months ago i mean every thing looks good and the sound on this tv is awsome! walford 10-25-09, 03:32 PM Well maybe you should be willing to pay a 100$ for it for the better sound. If the offerer is trying to sell it, it sounds like he is trying to sell it for more then the cost of his repairs in order not to just dispose of it at the dump. A several year old 720p DLP without any warranty coverage has very little value. I just replace a simliar working unit from another vendor and am giving my old unit to the Salviation Army. icebear518 10-25-09, 06:27 PM well he just wants to do a even trade my plasma for his dlp and thats becuase he said he wants something to put on his wall and i dont plan on putting it on my wall and also i play RLY RLY close to my tv prob not even 4 feet away it i tested my 360 with HDMi to see if it works good and it does only problem i didnt like about it was he was even near as bright as my plasma and i couldent find a setting in the menu to turn up the brightness =/ but other then that the pic is way better then my plasma and in my plasma when i play halo or any fast pace shooter i can see a blur everytime i turn rly fast and on the dlp it dont have that.. he was showing me the part he put on and open it up for me to take a look on what he did and everything also my plasma has no warrenty and the dlp seems newer it was made in 2007 and bought on Nov 2007 and the plasma was made in early 2006 walford 10-25-09, 08:09 PM I don't have an RCA DLP but I can't beleive that it does not allow you to adjust the brightness since the brightness of the bulb varies over it's live. The Samsung DLPs I have seen and used all permitted you to adjust the brightness separatly for each different input interface connection. icebear518 10-25-09, 09:29 PM yea this is the first tv i seen in my life that you can up the brightness if only if i could that then it would be better then my plasma also the only settings i can change is contrast, color, tint, black level, and sharpness then there is the auto color mode and color warmth, noise reduction and green stecth aslo i was reading some reviews and there saying the tv was to bright and they had to go into the service-menu to turn down the brightness... how do i go into my service menu ? it says nothing about it in the manual i tryed holding down the vol down and channel down at the same time while the tv was off and nothing also tryed channel down and menu as well still nothing =/ icebear518 10-26-09, 04:20 PM bump for the service code for this tv? i cant seem to find it any where i googled it and found some and they didnt work for my tv |
