Hi,

I have 3 HD tvs with pip and Comcast cable. Currently, I split the signal with 1 split going directly into my tv's 1st input, and the other going into my hi def box- out to (2nd input). I access the PIP channels (2-99) by using my TV's remote. I recently got a letter from Comcast informing me that in the near future I will be needing a "digital adapter box" if I wish to be able to see channels 20-99. Obviously I can leave things the way they are and still have PIP for the networks, but no ESPN etc. If I get the digital adapter box installed between my split cable and the TV, will I still get PIP? If so, how the heck can I change the channels on the DTA with the remote without changing the channel on my HD STB at the same time?

Thanks

I lost PIP when Comcast went digital. Sony 960 only allows one side digital other needs a different source. I use OTA and VCR for source and then I get PIP.

thanks for the reply,

They offer 2 DTAs for free. Are you saying that these "boxes" won't help me get PIP?

Thanks

If you really want to watch/record two different channels at once, I would recommend you get the Comcast DVR. DVRs greatly minimize the need for PIP, as they allow you to pause and switch between two different live channels. DVRs also allow you to record two different channels while you watch a third, previously recorded program.

That's the problem I mentioned in my original post-I don't know how I can change the DTA's channels without also changing the STB at the same time. I do have 1 Comcast DVR , but I don't want to keep jumping up and back. I can do that without all this trouble by simply hitting the "last" button on my Comcast remote. I want to be able to watch ESPN and ESPN 2 at the same time, like I can now. I'm guessing the DTA will provide those channels for PIP, but I will have to walk across the room and manually change the channels . What a pain..

The DTAs use different remote control codes then regular cable boxes. You will be able to change the channel on the DTA with the DTA remote without effecting the other cable box.
