View Full Version : Video Corruption Denon 4310CI vs Sim2 C3X vs Samsung Monitor vs LG BH100

When I turn on my BH100, the video to my C3X and Samsung widescreen rackmount monitor goes haywire… looks like a vertical roll - basically black with some occasional waving horizontal stuff.

BUT, when, for example, I switch to my HD DirecTV Sat (HDMI), there’s NO problem !?!? Picture on both monitors looks fine.

Here’s the hookup: HDMI from BH100 to Denon, HDMI from Denon monitor 1 to C3X. HDMI from Denon monitor 2 to Samsung rackmount with DVI>HDMI adapter.

The Denon lets me turn off the monitor2 output to the Samsung. When I do so the corruption to the C3X clears and picture from the BH100 is fine. Likewise, if I turn off monitor1 to the C3X, the picture clears on the Samsung.

Ergo, the problem appears when the Denon is set to output on both monitor1 and monitor2 simultaneously.

Any ideas would be helpful.

Thanks.

Not being flippant, but don't try to feed both displays at the same time. Even on a good day, splitting HDMI simultaneously can be problematic as HDMI is a two way signal and two dissimilar video chains is just asking for handshake problems.

I do this too with my 4310 ci

Recently my HDMI board went out and stopped outputting from monitor 1. Two months later monitor 2 output went out. I took the Denon in and got the HDMI board replaced under warranty. Everything works good again.

I'm a bit surprised a $2000 receiver doesn't have an active matrix HDMI splitter but that's another story. I assumed when I bought it I could address different sources to each of the outputs. Nope.

So it appears, Robert.

As a practical matter, working around this issue is no big deal. When the LG is the source, all I need do is switch off monitor2 at the Denon menu.

But I have questions: (1) If the Denon has two "separate" HDMI outputs, why are these outputs seemingly cross-talking? (2) What could the LG BH100 be injecting into the circuits that's screwing things up?
