I picked up a couple of MX-350 remotes for around than $30 and a PCL-300 program link. Universals' documentation, or lack of is half of the problem, the other half is this;

1. One of the two MX-350's can't communicate with the PCL-300. When I try to up or download anything, I get a connection error. I can't even verify the model ID.
2. With the other remote, I'm unable to transfer the supposed updated IR database and firmware to the remote even though by all indications, screens on the remote and within the program show the process went ok.
3. When I go through the motions of trying to save a config file, that process goes ok, but there is no file saved anywhere.
4. Universal says not to use the supplied CD for the PCL-300, but to d/l the newer version from their website. Also, I was told don't do a update through the program, but instead get that from their website. When the update was done, the program shows it a 'beta' version, unlike the orginal version. This happens with either version (which appears to be the same). Off the supplied CD, or from their site.
5. With the remote that can't communicate with the 300, when I try to 'learn' the #2 & the navigation up/down buttons, the process shows ok, but when I press any of those, there is no response. All the other programed buttons seem to work ok.

In spite of this being a Logitec/Harmony forum, anyone have any experience with either of these? I have been in contact with Universal, posted in their "Control Room" forum and Remote Centrals' forum, but haven't gotten any response from either forum and conflicting response from the manufacture.

BTW, Both of these models are current.

The mx-350 has to been manufactured after 5-2005, to be able to communicate with pcl-300.

Great. Well, not so great, but it solves one problem that Universal doesn't seem to know about as stated;Universals' documentation, or lack of is half of the problem
How about the other issues? :confused:

Many cases where learns don't take, the reason turns out that there is a punch-through enabled, which supercedes taugh commands, even thoughs taught after the punch-through was enabled. Try punching through the cursor pad to itself, then reteaching.

I did a full reset before I did anything else. No punch throughs' were done.
