I hope its still kosher to post laserdisc questions here...
My Onkyo DX-V801 (Pioneer CLD-2080 with Onkyo bits?) is exhibiting some disturbing analog artifacts.
For example, the blue background in the live action sequences of Fantasia is more of a mottled, noisy, blurry-mess akin to an analog antenna broadcast.
I'll try to post some photos in hopes that someone can confirm my diagnosis, however, from what I've read, I'm relatively sure that the player has developed a bad case of crosstalk.
As such, I was hoping that someone here could offer experienced advice on adjusting the servo or pickup to correct this problem. I'm quite fond of this player and would love to restore it to its former glory. :D

Why don't you try take it to a technician?
I think the problem is alignment and cleaning...

These days, I wouldn't know who to take it to! :-)
I think I was wrong about the source of the problem.
When I hooked it back up, I had hooked it to my Onkyo TX-SR605 and, apparently, the receiver has a horrible comb filter.
I bypassed the receiver for the video and hooked it directly up to my Samsung PN63A760 and, other than a poor black level even after calibration, the picture is as crisp and clear as I remember.
That still leaves me in quite a bind if I prefer to watch an LD on my projector, but perhaps I'll find a solution in the future.
However, if any one has any adjustment tips, it still might be beneficial for others in the future! :-)

Kutis Bahr occasionally posts in this forum. He may be able to help if he spots this thread. I also recommend www.laserdiscservice.com. Unfortunately, there are very few qualified laserdisc technicians left.

I'm gathering you have owned this player for years. If that is true and this has just started recently then there is a good chance the laser pickup is aging and the signal sent back the electronics to keep the laser spot on is getting weak and cannot operate properly. If this has always been a problem then the tilt and tangential angle needs to be adjusted. Need a little more information. You can Email me at kbahr@comcast.net
