I've had an Infocus IN83 projector for about a year now and I've only recently noticed 2 things. First, the picture definitely isn't nearly as bright as it used to be, and secondly, I can now hear the bulb warm up (electrical buzzing noises) briefly right after I turn it on. The reason I am not sure, is because I haven't seen a bulb warning yet either on the projector itself or on the screen when the projector is in use. Does it sound like I need a new bulb or could it be something else?

Thanks,

Mark

All lamps dim over time, and usually well before the warning indicator turns on. The buzzing I am unsure what is causing it. In any event, if it is bothering you (the brightness), you may want to get a new one, but I would keep your original as a spare.

Thanks for the quick reply, Jason. I think we will try a new bulb.

Jason. A true story. Not a joke. Someone lent me a Sony VPL-HS60 while my home projector is on loan for some serious testing. I flipped on the info screen bulb hours when I saw the please replace bulb message on turn on. The hour meter said 10,844 hours! I called the someone and asked if this was for real? He said no. He replaced the bulb at 5000 hours! but couldn`t figure out how to reset the meter. So the new bulb only had 5,844 hours on it. Oh mighty one. Do you think I should replace the bulb? Actually I am putting in a new one to night. No fun having a bulb explode inside the projector plus I can probably crank down the contrast from 100 and switch to low bulb mode.
