View Full Version : Do flat screens and analog stereos mix? (input lag question)

So I've been thinking about taking the plunge into the flat screen world (have a CRT TV right now), but there is something that is bothering me.

It seems like most people use a surround sound receiver with these TVs, that can add audio delay to compensate for video input lag. Right now, audio from my DVD player goes straight to my stereo, and the video goes straight to my TV. Will this setup still work with a flat screen? Or will the input lag cause an audio sync issue?

I want to use this TV with my 2-channel (non-digital) stereo, and really have no interest in surround sound. Is there any way to make this work?

Your setup should work just fine. I run audio from the source (satellite receiver, Blu-ray player, etc.) to my stereo/5.1 surround system. (I also run audio straight to the TV in cases where I do not want to power up my 5.1 audio system.) My video goes from the source straight to my TV (Pioneer Elite). I have no audio sync lag.

Exact same set-up works fine for me. No audio lag at all.
