Hello!

Ok - so I have a little problem in my house. My son is now 17 months old and he has figured out where the power button is on my Samsung HLP5063W TV. I have tried to move the center channel speaker to block the power button but the problem with that is that it hides the IR sensor, which makes it impossible to control the TV with the remote.

I looked in the back of the TV but there isn't an IR extender or anything like that in the back either. Do you all have any suggestions on fixing this small problem without spending a lot of money on it?

Right now I basically block the front of the TV with a play pen or a play yard. I would like to remove those if possible since they take up too much room and isn't really all that necessary any more except to block the power button.

Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks.

a marginally large chunk of plexiglass glued over the button an option? If not, you could make a blocker out of some wood or something that slides under the TV for sturdyness. Just drill a hole where the IR eye is if it's not transparent. I've done this using an acrylic picture frame from walmart... they look like these things:

We have a Captain Kirk behind a couch, so the buttons and IR receiver are blocked from view. I have a IR extender taped to the IR receiver.

Ooh! What is Captian Kirk? I am going to have to google that and find out more. Some kind of an IR sender is what i thought would work out good. How dies the signal actually get to the TV? I will do some research on that.

The plexiglass idea is good one too. I can do that if capt. Kirk doesn't work out.

Thanks guys for the ideas.

The Captain Kirk is an old version of the standard Sammy DLP that came out back in 2004/2005. It's essentially a Sammy DLP on a large pedestal.
