Building a small addition to our house which will create a 16 wide by 17 long bonus room. Will have a 125 inch 2.35 screen up on the front wall along with L/R Tower Speakers. I am planning on having the Center Channel and components all on a console underneath the screen.

With only the screen and towers on the front wall, the wife was hoping to get a nice wide console that could hold all the components and a few other items for storage. I really like the functionality of the Horizon N702 Plus that is often advertised at the top of AVS pages but it is "only" 70 inches wide. The wife was looking for something wider to take up more of the space across the 16 foot wide wall. I'm not as concerned about the extra width but I thought I'd throw some options out for her if you guys had any suggestions...

Thanks.

You'd probably have to custom build. Like this guy did:

I have a Horizon N702 Plus in Cinnamon/Maple and it is a great piece of furniture for a smaller installation like mine. I have 6 components in it and use the middle for a 19+ inch Energy RC-LCR center speaker. I do like the wheels on it when I have to change wiring; and the dual fans I bought for it sure keep my equipment cool (especially that Dish receiver). You can get wood fronts for your Horizon and use an IR repeater to access components inside or use an RF controller. But it seems likely you might need something else. Built-ins can be great but getting at wiring or cooling them can be a problem and needs to be addressed for their design.

I guess a 125" 2.35/1 screen is just a tad under 10 feet. Depending on the width of your tower speakers (and how much you tow them in towards the center) you might be looking at only using up at most 13 feet and could be as little as 12 feet (you'd want to keep the speakers a bit out of the corners anyway). I'd start thinking about where you are also going to put your subwoofers - and how many? You could put them in the corners which means you'd have 10 feet for a cabinet below your screen. Or you might put dual subs just inside of the towers which would decrease the size of the cabinet that you could use, possibly down to the size of a Horizon.
