Hi everyone,

I'm about to buy my first HD TV, so I came here to make sure I'll make the right choice.

As the title says, I will mainly play (in 1080p) and watch Bluray movies on my PS3. That's why I need a screen with great colors etc... but also a low input lag (aren't plasma screens better about gaming ?)

I've got 1000-1300 euros to spend on it.

Panny 50G10 is a great set for both. My friend just picked one up last week and it is a terrific looking set. Don't know about the price for overseas units.

I'd like to know how you plan on playing most games in 1080p on the PS3. Most games are 720p natively.

Actually, I don't have the PS3 yet, I will buy it when I buy the TV.

I have a 42" G10 that I use for gaming. Input lag is imperceptible. I've seen where other forum members have posted input lag tests on the '09 Pannys and they consistently show somewhere between 20 and 30 ms of input lag- which is very good. You'll be hard pressed to do better with just about any flat panel and, as I said, I can't detect any lag at all when playing, and I primarily play competitive FPS's like Halo, COD, and Killzone 2.

If you own/watch a lot of Blu-Ray movies, you might look to the V10 series, as it incorporates a proper 24p mode that refreshes at 96hz, whereas the lines under the V10 only go up to 48hz, which introduces headache-inducing flicker. Not everyone cares about judder and proper 24p handling, though- and if you want to save money or go with a bigger display size, etc.- the G10 and the two S series' both look great whilst displaying BR movies at 60hz.

I wouldn't worry about lag. It's not even noticeable. Get the V10 if you can afford it and a PS3 and you'll be fine.

It should be the same.

i do a lot of gaming and movies so i can relate.
first recommendation would be a pioneer kuro (what i currently use), if you can still grab one
next would be panasonic plasma sets (very comparable to pioneers in pic quality)
also, having used both plasma and lcd sets, i prefer gaming on a plasma screen.

bigger is definitely better, so go for the largest set your budget can afford

The V10 and G10 share the same panel, so there should be no difference whatsoever.

I game on my Panasonic 1080P Plasma with my Xbox 360 all the time. No LAG that I can notice. Great for gaming on, and Blu-Rays look amazing. Of course with a Plasma, especially when NEW, you want to mix up content. Don't play the same game with a Heads up Display for hours on end, day after day. Do a little gaming then watch a Blu-Ray and then game a little more if you want.

Avid XBOX360 gamer with Panasonic TX-P50V10E here. XBOX is connected to the TV via HDMI and set up to 1080p.
The games look AMAZING, simply amazing.
Go for it! (if you can, get a V, if not, then G10 is your choice)
