Checking out a Panasonic 54V10 with some SD content (music videos recorded on DVD-R that looks fantastic on my 42" ED Panny plasma) I was very disappointed. Granted the player doing the scaling was a Sony BD, but even so it changed my mind about that purchase. I realize that moving up 12" in size is bound to degrade SD PQ, and I am willing to go with a 50" V10 if they are still making them (not so sure since no one has them). So the question is whether the DVDO Edge (the only affordable VP I know of that is worth a darn) would help make those SD recordings look closer to what I have enjoyed on the ED plasma.

Is anyone using the Edge with a V10 or a G10 Panny plasma 50 inches or larger? If so, please post your comments regarding how well it handles SD content. Thanks.

How much actual SD viewing will you be doing? I know that every since I've had my Kuro I stay as far away from SD if at all possible.

As a music lover I record a lot of music videos on DVD-R (SD or course) and really enjoy watching/listening to them through my high quality surround system. The recordings are sourced as analog (480i via S-video input) and vary in PQ since some are old while some originate in HD (even off a HD channel). Also, unfortunately, many channels I watch are available in SD only, such as BBC, CW, plus a dozen or so movie channels are only available in SD on Comcast. It would be nice if the FCC would require ALL broadcasting to be HD (and they should, IMO) but the sad fact is SD is still a fact of life for a lot of TV and for a long time to come (not to mention that BD-R recording of HD is prohibitively expensive even where possible).
