i started selling televisions for sears in about 2007, i still work their today and i hate most of it honestly... but some good things that came out of it is the fact that i have gained so much knowledge in the field of electronics.

the field of electronics is almost never ending to me... one day u can be obsessed with hd camcorders and the next u r kicking around which blu ray player to buy... then it takes a good month to determine which one is best for me or u just impulse one that u think is the best and realize its not 31 days after u purchased it when there is only a 30 day return policy on it... haha

anyways ill list some of my purchases TV wise because this is flat panel tech and let u know my experience

first tv... vizio 32 inch fall of 2007
when i got the tv home i was stunned and of course i left it in dynamic mode for the first 2 months... but then i had also been selling tvs for a bit more and i noticed that there was so much more out there then my little vizio... i discovered things like 1080p and the fact that companies that had been around a lot longer put out tvs with better PQ then my vizio... so i decided i wanted one of those

my next purchase was a Sharp LC32D62U 32" 1080P... i was on my anniversary dinner with my girlfriend which is now pregant and we have a kid together as well... we also lived together at the time... we were drinking and some how we ended up buying a 32 inch 1080p sharp that night because i knew there was a sale price and it was going off tomorrow ( OMG THE SALE ENDS TODAY HAVE TO BUY IT ) im sure some of u have been there before only to find out in the end that u could have got the same tv 5 inches bigger for the same price 5 months later... haha

so we kept that tv for about a week... then i decided we were going to return it and get the 42 inch sharp 1080p lc42d64u

we kept that tv for about 6 months then i sold it to my brother who eventually smashed his chair into it and broke it... reason for selling this tv was banding and annoying motion blur...

The next tv i picked up was a samsung pn50a550 50 inch plasma... it is still in my living room today... however the ps3 blu ray player stopped working for it about 6 months ago but it still plays video games... i love the tv except for the fact that i want deeper black levels now and the ability to do with 24P content what was meant to be done with it so i am now researching my next purchase

i have had the sammy 50 for about a year and a half now

6 months ago i bought a samsung 40 inch lcd ( ln40b630 ) i loved it but i sold it to my brother... personally i like lcds without the glossy screen (looks more realistic imo) reason i sold this tv was because i caught a steal on a 40 inch LED samsung un40b6000 lets just say u would have bought it too haha (trying to avoid price talk)

i sold the b630 to my brother and he fortunately did not bust a chair into it yet

so i forgot to add that i picked up a 23 inch philips like 2 years ago that i use as a 2nd computer monitor now its 720p and doesnt even have a digital tuner about ready to sell it for a hundred bucks

current tvs: samsung pn50a550, samsung un40b6000, philips 23 inch model # POS

Cont...

now i am on a mission... a new mission

the mission to find one of the best tvs ever made

i have a pioneer 1018 receiver (just for the record i might be running a BD player thru it)

what i want in a TV and what i know as of nOW:

24P CAPABILITY WITHOUT ISSUES... (panny g10, samsung 650) i hear they basically suck at 1080/24p content... which is a deal breaker for me

i might even consider an LCD... but i would like a 10 bit panel if i do go that route or something that can handle 24p properly

which LCDs have 10 bit panels this year hmmm... i dont think the LEDs from samsung do

maybe the 8500 but i cant afford that so yes i dont want to drop 4k on a tv also

i might kick 3k if im feelin the mood but 4k no thx

i want something 50+ obviously

considered the lh90 from lG but heard it had a ton of defective panels... the V10 panasonic honestly right now is the one i have not researched yet that may still ahve a chance... but if the samsung 650 is worthy please let me know because im getting mixed reviews on the cinema smooth feature

edge lit LEDs are kind of annoying to me after owning one ... they are not the best thing since sliced bread imo... they r just freakin thin and they look like a samsung 650/750 series LCD... like i said earlier i have one and its not the end all be all tv... in fact if they had a 50 inch LED vs my 50 inch plasma... i prefer to watch the superbowl on the plasma... BUT i have a 2 bedroom apartment and might sacrifice my love for plasma to continue my gaming career on an xbox 360 which i retired since my broke about a year ago... ya bad luck next time im buying the warranty on any gaming system or dvd player

anyways u get the point

here is what i want to pair with this new tv

pioneer 1018
2x klipsch f-2s already own them
either the oppo or the panasonic bd80 bluray player or the ps3
not sure yet
i have a 200 dollar surge protector from philips i got for 30 bucks
so thats it lemme know what u think thx appreciate any feed back

Should'nt you know what is likely best as you sell televisions?

Anyway, I am reseaching a replacement for my 5 year old 50" 720P Samsung. The following are potentials which can all be had for about the same price when on sale, and they all have 24p capabilities:

1. Panasonic TCP50V10. It is likely the best overall performer on my list, but I am concious of the environment and the plasma is likely the least energy efficient. Smallest screen of the group.

2. Samsung LN52B750. There are reported quality issues with some models, but most should be ok. Best energy efficient one in the group. The new B8500 is better but is more pricey.

3. Sony Bravia KDL52Z5100. Not as good as the KDL52XBR9 which is more pricey.

4. LG 55LH90. The only 55" in the group, and the least attractive physical screen bezel to me. Firmware updates can only be done by technician, unlike the others that have internet connectivity. It fails one of the CNET geek test, but I am not convinced that this would be a serious issue in real world usage.

5. Sharp Aquos LC52LE700U. Likely the most energy efficient in the group. Not as highly rated as some of the others.

I have not found a retailer that has at least three of them for a side to side comparison.

The purists will likely say that the Panasonic is the best choice as my viewing room is light controlled with no windows. And forget about the minor difference in energy usage.

Research is still underway, and waiting for a good sale.

well if you are gaming you should probably get an lcd

and i do sell tvs so i should know a lot about them however manufacturers fail to post specs especially samsung this year... i cant find out anything important about their tvs

and the ones that do have 24p mode usually dont work right so that is why i come here to see who knows of a model that can do it properly

im about ready to say to hell with 24p because it appears that without 5k it seems like u might as well give up...

lg has the lip sync issues im hearing about... i heard a sales guy from an independent dealer near me tell me 75% of their displays were recalled back due to defects but im guessing the other 25% are gold... the tech firmware thing sounds like a hassle as well...

The Panasonic V10 Plasma models are supposed to do an excellent job with 24P. You should read up on them, in the Plasma forum. They are also no where near the high price level you are talking about.
