Tonight at Best Buy there was an ESPN football game showing on a 55" LG set up as a home theater. I have never really noticed it on a 4:3 set but their graphics are out of control. They have a huge status bar that runs almost the width of the screen and blocks out about 20% of the top of the picture. It blocks everything on the sidelines and some of the field. At the bottom there is some ticker type crap blocking more of the field. Then they superimpose the huge down arrow and other garbage across the center. At no time did they roll up the graphics, even when plays were in progress. I just want to see as much of the game as realistic as possible. These guys make it look like a cheesy video game.

I agree, they should make it so we as customers can turn off all that garbage if we want. I wish I could watch a football game without any of that static stuff on-screen.

Yeah, if you didn't have any of that static stuff on-screen, you could avoid getting IR... :D

gosh, and to think I've been able to avoid IR for 3 years without worrying about what I am watching and just happen to watch tons of ESPN. Go figure. :D

LOL... :p

Well, along with 3D content from cable/sat providers, perhaps we'll get interactive TV as well! Think of the possibilities, like being able to turn off news tickers and status bars for sporting broadcasts! Innovation in the making!

That would be great. It would be right up there with the mute button. Now if they could only get Tirico to stop talking non stop.

I agree 100%. I bought a TV second-hand with the ESPN logo burnt into the lower right part of my screen so I have a bit of a grievance with ESPN. Ever since I have been focusing on network logos as they appear on the screen wishing they would just turn them off.
