so right now im gaming and watching blu rays with a very low end sylvania lcd 720p. im stuck between the panasonic s1 42in 1080p(great blacks, no motion blur, good color, worried about ir) or the samsung 550lcd 40" 1080p(alright blacks, great color, possible motion blur, dont have to worrie about ir). ill be gaming alot on this tv 7hrs a day or less so plasma has me worried. but i will also be watching alot of blu rays on this tv. thanks for helping out!

Get the plasma if you are going to be gaming, for the reasons you stated plus the all important input lag that lcd's have. I have both.

properly burn in the plasma and you will be fine. The first 100-200 hours are what matters. I just bought a 50S1 and have gamed for an hour or so with no IR. Most games do have static images, but their are a lot of screen changes also. There are people who have had a static image on for 8 hours+ with NO IR.

well get the lcd,it will give you a sharper,crisper picture.
