Hey Guys,

So finally moving out of my parents house into a condo with in a couple of months and i'll be needing some speakers on a budget.

My situation. Condo will be 400-500 sq. bachelor. Assuming neighbours who don't like loud bass. Budget $1000-1400 Canadian for 5.0 speaker set. No sub because I wont be able to use it, and it'll put me way passed my budget for now. I can always get a sub after. Also with a smaller condo depending on what I get i might not have that much space for huge speakers. My thoughts:

Fronts: Monitor 7's
Rears: Atoms
Center CC190
All powered by Pioneer elite VSX-21TXH

Used for 50% blu ray movies + 50% music (electronica, IDM, triphop). Mainly looking for accurate clear sound not just LOUD. Also a speaker set that can still output bass without dying(dont need it to shake the condo just hear it when I want to).

What do you guys think? Anything worth upgrade a small bit for a bigger boost? Does PSB have a better setup for the price? I know the Monitor 7's and Atoms are tiny but still out decent sound so take up less space

Thanks in advance,

Konrad

I have heard the Monitor 7's and I think you will be very happy with that set up. I know every one wants 5.1 right off the bat,but another option would be to upgrade to the Studio 20s for fronts. Use a phantom center and get the Atoms for surround duty.

You could squeeze in near your budget with that set up and down the road add a center and a good sub. Having heard both the Monitor series and the Studios,I.M.O. the Studios are a big step up over the Monitor series.

Go compare and listen for yourself. Sometimes it pays to buy better stuff and build up to a full 5.1. system slowly, that way you will be less incline to want to upgrade down the road.

Good luck.

Because Psb is about to change their image line to a new version, the older image t45's are available right now for a discount. People on message boards like this one tend to say Psb Image speakers are better than the Paradigm monitors.

I haven't heard the Images so I don't know. But I do own some Paradigm Monitor 9's, and I enjoy their sound for both music and movies.

This is the mantra I'm going by. I'm in a similar situation were I live in a condo and am very hard pressed for space. I haven't heard the studio series(although I'm thinking that I might get the studio 20's and then later upgrade to the 100's when I move) but I have heard the monitor series...well at least the 9's and the 11's.
I would say if you can go and listen to the 9's go and have a listen. I was surprised by how well they sounded and also thought they had a sub hooked up but they didn't.
Anyway's just my 2 cent's.

P.S. What are psb's???

if you can hold out another month or two (i believe), paradigm is going to release the SE series line. Info Here (http://www.paradigm.com/en/paradigm/fronts-specialedition(se)-series-1-2-31.paradigm) Supposed to be right in the middle of the monitor and studio lines. a little more pricier than the monitors, but less than the studios.

located centrally in the states and my local dealer will not have them "for a couple of months". that was a couple weeks or so ago when i spoke with him. there is only one authorized dealer in my general area. am waiting to see if i want to upgrade from my mini-monitor v5's.

I dont know if im weird but i find it weird not having Towers for your front set. Not getting a sub for a long time, would the studio 20's output a healthy amount of bass as opposed to Monitor 7's?
