I am looking at a Optoma HD65 matched with a 123" screen with 1.2 gain; any issues with this setup? I have a 13x22x9 room and the seating would be about 14' and 18' from the screen. I am concerned given the reported "inflexibility" of the projector and minimal zoom. I have plenty of space to move back; projectorcentral shows a zoom of about 15'. I should be alright with the riser height as well because the screen is about 19" from the top of the frame to the ceiling and it shows a height needed of 11.5". Is the screen too big or this projector. It is a dedicated room; so it is completely light controlled. Any thoughts are appreciated. I have also looked at Sony VPL-BW5 LCD; but supposedly the screendoor effect could be a bigger issue with the size of screen and the LCD format - true?
Thanks.

Yeah I was wondering the same thing to some degree. I'm waiting on a 119" screen now. Sold my 100" which I owned for a week. The picture looked great, I just wanted a larger screen. I was hoping I could retain the vivid colors and black levels moving up a bit in size.

As far a the Sony goes, It may have the upper hand on no rainbow effect, but that is about it. In picture quality as a whole..there's no contest. The HD65 is a much better choice.

The Sony will look washed out by comparison.

Looks like if you mount your HD65 at 14 feet from your screen, you will achieve a fL value as high as 21, you need 12 to 16 so you have plenty of brightness. You should be good to go!
