I have plans drawn up to build a racing simulator using 6 rear projected screens wrapped around the cockpit in a hexagon shaped fashion. I was looking at using the rosco black for the screen material and I'm in the market for the cheapest decent projector, as I need 6. Room lighting is fully controlled, and each screen size will only be around 30-40 inches each. Quality isn't a concern, but I would still like a good picture. 720p resolution would be ideal because the new ATI Eyefinitiy cards that support 6 displays have a max horizontal resolution of 8192, otherwise I'd be doing 1080p. :p

My goal in using a projection based system is running seamless. I've designed a clever way to wrap the rosco black material completely around the hexagon shape without seams. I know projector alignment will be extremely tedious, but I'm up for the challenge.

Any suggestions? Price is a top concern, cheaper the better, but just not TOO cheap, you get the drift!

If they are going to be that small why use a projector. I would link LCD's would be much cheaper and easier......

He wants to make the setup as seamless as possible. Hard to do with flat panels.

hah, how ironic I'm attempting to do something quite similar also using rosco grey with RP. I actually found this thread doing a google search while researching it for my own project :) I'm very interested in what you're doing. Can you share any more details? What simulator is this for?

I would think your 720p resolution would make it a bit pricy as business and other square projectors are cheaper. Luman output wouldnt be a huge concernt since your screen size is small and a controlled enviornment.... what is the price ceiling/floor? It'd probly be around $400 per projector for a decent experience, though that's just a guess.
