I live 20 miles North of Panama City, Fl. Near a small the community of Greenhead, Fl. I cannot receive Fox 28, from Panama City. Below are most of the steps I have taken to receive this station. Any input to solve the problem would be greatly appreciated.
The whole situation.
Yesterday I call Fox, 28.1 , they told me that lots of people with Directv were getting there Fox on channel 9. I cannot get channel 9 on my Directv antenna scan. There seems to be no signal for 28.1 or 9.
I since have hooked up my Sony HDtv to the DB8 antenna, directly, bypassing the Directv box. Still no 28.1 or 9.
I also hooked up an older amplified UHF /VHF, rabbit ear, uhf antenna, directly to my TV, still no 28.1 or 9.
I hooked up a 13 inch Sony Tv , with a converter box, to both antennas listed above, and still no channel 28.1 or 9.
I also have a HD indoor amplified antenna , which was also hooked up to both TVs, no channel 28.1 or 9.
The Fox 28.1 transmission tower is 12 miles from me. I receive the following channels on the DB8 antenna, which is hooked to the Directv, box, the number after the channel number is the approximate distance to the transmission tower.
Channel 7.1 , 7.2 ,7.3 , 7.4 , about 25 miles to transmitter
channel 11.1 , 11.2 , 11.3 , 11.4 , 60 miles to transmitter
channel 13.1 , 13.2 , 20 miles
channel 47.1 30 miles
channel 51.1 40 miles
Is there such a thing as a dead zone for certain channels? Any suggestion would be welcome. I also tried aiming the DB8 in various directions, with no success. The DB8 is about 25 feet of the ground .Thanks for the help.

WPGX has a very weak VHF signal, and only broadcasts at 2.3 kw on channel 9. Plus, adjacent Fox affiliate WALA in Mobile also broadcasts on channel 9, which makes WPGX reduce its power so it doesn't interfere with WALA. However, it looks like WPGX has filed a construction permit with the FCC to increase their power to 34 KW and raise their antenna so the signal can better cover the Panama City DMA.

The map shows the current signal reaching north of Chipley, just east of Blountstown and just east of Freeport. It is very difficult to pick up, even in the city of Panama City. Hopefully the new transmitter will fix that.

Wait, 51-1 is on the air? What programming does it have?

On subject, esdx is correct. WPGX has a very weak signal right at the moment. Once they build out their construction permit, it should get better.

I live about 2 1/5 to 3 miles away from the channel 28 tower have a outside above the house antenna and still can't get 28. It was fine a few weeks ago and now it is just no signal. Anyone have an idea when they will improve?
