Are there any plugins that would allow FrontRow to play back a BR rip? My wife hates the idea of having to use Plex/XMBC/VLC when she's used to FRow...

That's great new, up to now I thought there was no viable Blu-Ray player for Mac OS X ! :)
How is the performance under FR when reading those rips on your machine ?
What Window software did you use for ripping ?

None. Since MakeMKV was released there's been an OS X solution:

That's gonna depend on which Mac you have. I'm right at the performance tipping point with a 2.0 C2D, so I have to be careful with the file size of my 1080p .mkv content. Some files I have to use MPlayer OSX Extended with, instead of FR. If you read the threads, it seems the new minis don't have any problem.

Oh this is heaven then. Now I just need to convince her to let me buy a new Mini, and upgrade my drives so that I can store the BR rips.

Any news?
Is streaming from m2ts out of BDMV/STREAM possible?
with DTS? HD Audio?
Or better to make mkv out of m2ts?

thx!

I can not get DD 5.1 or DTS out of mplayer to work? I can get it out of VLC, XMBC, Plex, etc., everything but MPlayer. I am on vacation so I don't have mplayer in front of me, but I know that I did find the settings to turn dd and dts one, but when I did that I would get no sound?

I have an 3.0Ghz 8 Core Mac Pro and there are some 1080p's that just won't playback smooth with anything but Mpalyer.

Thanks,
Steve

MKV is better IMO, you can store the audio and subtitles that you want, seeking forward/backwards works well. No HD audio yet with the Mac.
