Are they making televisions that can connect to a wifi network and let you use a wifi device (pc or smartphone) to fully control it as an IR remote would?

TVs - don't think so. But there are apps to remote control Roku, Tivo, or a PC application...

Not sure either on TV with WiFi. What I suspect you are looking for is a means to control your home theater with a WiFi smart phone (iPhone/iTouch/Droid, etc). I think it is a great idea and I am trying to find this solution. There are many pieces of the solution out there. Here is one:

I am still trying to find the ideal set of applications that is most efficient and suites my needs (MAC and DROID). I welcome related response.
