Hey guys I have a question if any hdtv recorders are available that actually let you control them via bluetooth or being hooked up on your home network.

Obviously it would have to have the hardware installed on it and software to take such commands.

I know for years they have just been being made with standard IR control but hey the idea is in my head so figured I'd ask some techies what they think :)

Thanks all!

A remote IR receiver/trasmitter set from Radio Shack is all you need.

The TivoHD is the only HDTV recorder I'm aware of that allows you to control the DVR through WiFi. There are remote control programs for the iPhone, iPod Touch, etc that allow you to control the TiVo and input text over the network.

With other HDTV recorders, you would need remote IR receiver/transceiver to control the DVR from another room.

I assume this would be a device that receives a signal from a computer it is hooked up (usb?) to and then delivers the IR signal to the television that is in site of the IR device.

This would make sense and would be very doable and could hide the computer out of site and just have the IR device out in site.

Does anyone know if there is such things?

edit: I know there are IR receiver devices that hook up to a PC but that is the opposite of what I want.

The following Bing search for IR remotes will provide lots of information. If you want to check Radio Shack you can check their Website.

I can't find any that hook up to a computer and send IR signals, just alot of IR remote controls.

I assumed incorrectly that you were using a PC application like Media Center with a MC renote acting as a PVR or that you already had another PVR that you used a IR remote to control.
