Anyone have any experiences with Apple's new Magic Mouse for HTPC use?

I'm especially interested in hearing about any Front Row or EyeTV specific uses, and I'd also like to know how well the mouse tracks on soft surfaces, like a couch or pillow.

Front Row doesn't seem to support it;
I like it a lot - use it in iTunes;
Don't have EyeTV...

Thanks Ken. I don't use iTunes much, so I guess I'll wait to make a decision until after Apple (or some 3rd party) adds FR support.

I found some sites that have some ObjectiveC hacks to make the mouse respond to custom gestures and such, but it is my understanding Apple will eventually release an official tool for that. Either way, I'd expect to see some neat uses of the Magic Mouse in the near future.

there's already a ( very early ) tool for adding MM support to any application

You just map keyboard shortcuts to gestures, like in my internet browser I have "two finger swipe down" mapped to command+t which opens a new tab.

I got the magic mouse for my htpc for no logical reason. It looks cool and I wanted one. I only use it for non-htpc stuff like browsing the web or changing settings, but it seems to track fine on my leg.

LOL, that's what I'm trying to avoid!

Thanks for the link. That software looks better than the other stuff I found. That you can assign behaviors to specific applications is very useful. I bet (hope?) FF/RW swipes for EyeTV would work pretty well.

$69 seems about right for me to stop waffling and just buy the shiny toy already. :)

i doubt you'll be disappointed; the tracking seems pretty flawless on about every surface I've tried - couch material, leather, hand, etc;

now that I've used it awhile - the touch surface controlling i can no longer live without...
