Would like to reconvert the room I have now into more of a HT room and not a den that has a 56" DLP TV right now.
13.6 x 18 x 8 with sitting wall with a opening walk way to right.
Facing back wall has window and the right wall has double window.
If I build a screen that would cover the back wall with single window would that work and what size screen would work in that size room. Oh left wall has door opening into the Computer room-workout area

I want to still incorporate the Maggie 3.5r and MG12 as rear and MMG C center
yes and get a sub to complement the setup

OK how do I post an image

Save it as a jpg file into a free photobucket account. Then you can insert the [img]yadayadayada[/img[ link in the body of your post and the rest is magic.

You need to remove the ?action=view&current= part of the url. On the left side of the page is the IMG code, just click it and it copies, then paste here like so.

Are you going to stick with a single row of seating? How far will it be from the screen wall?

How tall and wide are your Maggies, Can a screen fit above or will it have to fit between?
Are you willing to cover over the front window?

What do you watch the most? Movies or 16:9 format TV programming?

What projector are you planning?

For a newbie you may want to get your projector and just shine it on the wall for a week to get a feel for what size image you are comfortable with and to see what will fit between the maggies. Then order the screen.

Yes I have no problem with covering the single window. I would like to have two rows I think on sitting. Saw on another thread Berkline 131175 Line, start with one row of three or four and then a another row from there
Movies first-Sports Baseball and Football mostly but some other two and then
TV stuff if I happen to be down there, as I will always have the Samsung 56" DLP for that..
Maggies are 24" wide and are 93" between and they are 6ft tall and should or need to be at least two feet from back wall and a little more is better
right now I have 45 inces to back wall and 13" to side wall could take some from both but they love open space

I have no idea what projector yet- but If I am going down this road I want above middle of the road one- doesn't have to be the best but I don't want to regret not getting a really good one latter.

Thanks for looking and giving advise from your experience

reading a few threads and looks like a 100" 2.35 screen would be largest and probably 90 would be easier. What is the advantage to a curved to straight and how close could a set of sits be to that size screen. How far back would be best for the projector. Thanks in advance

A curved screen is useful if you are using an anamorphic lens. The lens produces a small amount of 'pincushion' distortion, which the curve in the screen counters. And they look kind of cool!

If you are using the zoom method to do 2.35:1 you don't need (or really want) a curved screen.

The projector if you are using a lens ends up at a throw ratio of about 2:1 optimally. This is calculated using the 16:9 screen size, search in the constant height forum to figure out how to work it out. For zooming just figure out how wide your screen will be and plug it into the calculator at projector central for your projector of choice to find out the distance range.

Here is a way to calculate optimal seating distance
