Hello everyone!
I've been piecing together a generic home theater system for the past several years and am looking to enhance it. I'm not looking to build the best system ever but am curious as to what weak points my current setup has and what I could upgrade. I am overall very happy with my system but am aware of some limitations, specifically with the receiver. I have a Samsung Blu-Ray player and my Yamaha doesn't support any of the HD audio formats. When I am playing a disk using DTS-HD, I do notice that my receiver is in DTS-ES mode but I'm concerned that I'm not getting the full DTS-HD sound quality.
Here is my current setup by component:
Surround Speaker System:
Radiient Calypso 5.1
* Front Left & Right:
-- 80Hz - 20kHz
-- 8 Ω nominal
-- 120 W short-term peak, 60 Wrms continuous
-- 90dB/w/m
* Center:
-- 90Hz - 20kHz
-- 8 Ω nominal
-- 80 W short-term peak, 40 Wrms continuous
-- 86dB/w/m
* Rear Left & Right:
-- 90Hz - 20kHz
-- 8 Ω nominal
-- 60 W short-term peak, 30 Wrms continuous
-- 84dB/w/m
Receiver:
Yamaha HTR-5930 5.1
-- RMS Output Power: 80W x 5 (20Hz - 20kHz)
-- RMS Output Power: 110W x 5 (1kHz)
-- D/A Conversion: 192 kHz / 24 bit
-- DTS-ES
-- Pro Logic II
Television:
Samsung UN55B7100 55" 1080p LED HDTV
-- Contrast Ratio: 3,000,000:1
-- 120hz
Blu-Ray player:
Samsung BD-P3600 Blu-Ray player
Subwoofer:
Energy ESW-V10
-- Frequency Response: 23Hz - 120Hz
-- 300 Watts RMS, 1200 Watts Dynamic
-- 10" Woven Composite Fiberglass Cone
-- Filter: 40Hz-120Hz @ 18dB/octave
Thanks in advance!
Tony
