I just got a new 50" v10 today, and it looks great. I fired up some Halo to see how the input lag was, and so far I can tell a huge difference between it and my old samsung 50" plasma.

However, I only played for maybe 10-15 minutes or so, ensuring that it was set to "game" mode. I even checked the image retention settings and pixel orbiting was set to auto, but everything except "scroll bar" was greyed out. I assume it's automatically set for "game" mode..

Anyways, I just want to know if there's anything I should do before I start using my tv over the weekend for some hardcore gaming? I may play anywhere from 1-5 hours at a time, and I just want to make sure I don't potentially damage the tv since it's brand new.

.. i believe in 'Game' mode, orbiting is turned off. you should be careful about heavy gaming for ~100hrs. also, you might want to limit yr sessions to 1-2hrs, especially if game utilizes a HUD.

when showing other programming/DVD/Blu-Ray, check on this Forum for good settings to start with (or) try the ones on tweaktv.com.

Panasonics don't have a "game mode"; there are several picture presets, one named "game", but it's nothing more than a picture preset. Meaning you don't have to use it when you play games, and it has no less lag than any other picture mode.

Why would an image retention feature be turned off for a game picture preset? I would think that is when image retention features would be most important?

.. interferrence; maybe it'll mention it more in yr 'Owner's manual' under Orbiter or Game setting. :)
