So I bought a new house and above the fireplace a couple of cables have been fished from below for the wall mounted TV. I cant replace this cable with an HDMI because it is fastenened inside the wall and I have spray foam insulation so fishing an additional cable is not an option, either.
I was told this was the latest hookup for displays?? I don't recognize it and don't know how to use it. I have an older panny pro plasma I wanted to use in this spot, but have no idea how to go from my hdtv box by using this. any thoughts?

They also sell an HDMI wall plate that connects to the rapid run cable if you want to go that route.

OK just did some reading on the Rapid Run web site and found out that all rapid run cables are not created equal. You are really going to need to do some research to figure out what cable you have. They have blue and red colored coded cables (among others) and if that is really a blue you can only do a component connection not HDMI which should be a red coded cable.
Yeah- you appear to be correct- it looks like a blue-coded cable which sucks in general- however is fine for my purpose since I bought this panny plasma in 2002 (yikes I think it cost me around $3k at the time) so component in, BNC or Svideo were the main input options at that time. Since it's only a 480p (which still looks amazing from a distance, btw) I think I'll do component and should probably be fine. Sucks I can't do HDMI if I get a newer display up there, but since this is a secondary TV anyway I'll just enjoy what I have.

Would it be possible to re-solder the end to make it HDMI compatible?

I was going to say, there don't appear to be enough conductors represented in the connector to meet the needs of an HDMI cable. The assembly shown appears to have enough conductors for component video, stereo audio and maybe digital audio all on one cable.

Short of the fact that there are not very many field-termination assemblies for HDMI, the cable shown does not appear to have the correct number of conductors for an HDMI cable. Also, an HDMI cable has a very specific internal structure (using twisted pairs). Trying to square-peg-round-hole some random cable into an HDMI application would likely result in some very sparkly images, if it even worked at all.
