did anyone notice a "blur" effect on WMGT 41 during the game on certain parts of the broadcast?

Ralph,
I'm seeing some macroblocking and signal loss recently on ABC. I noticed it Saturday during the LSU basketball game and then again last night during World News. Is it from ABC, or something local on your end or mine? I don't watch FOX (no more football) so I can't tell you if it's happening on that channel.

Yes, and the pixelization. Stingy with the bandwidth for the HD signal, giving too much to the SD My stream, it seems.

But that doesn't make sense, since 41.2 gets all pixelly, too.

Dunno what's going on there, and fortunately, there's no NBC or My programming we care to watch.

I restarted the stat mux server. That should clear it up.

What's the latest on WPGA vs Cox Cable?
Any change?

WPGA is back on DirecTV again, showing Bounce TV programming. Last night it was showing MeTV.

Appears that Register is still struggling of staying on the air by getting coverage, so they return to DirecTV and get the channel back on the lineup.

for the past few days i've been noticing several channels freezing up at times, like CNN (23), HLN (24), Discovery (26) Cartoon Net (29), and theres others but im not going to list them all....i wonder whats the deal with Cox on those...

Could be a loose connection somewhere. Check the ones in your home. If it's still bad, call Cox.

i doubt its on my end cause i can change the channels like the locals (2 to 19) and they are going just fine, i turn back and the channels i mentioned are still frozen for like a few more seconds and they go back to normal...

i think its an issue with the feed for those networks at the Cox facility

It could still be an issue with ingress (from outside RF interference sources) on particular channels. Two-way radio or paging transmitters would cause it to come and go.
Another thought...bad cabling could cause a dip in the signal strength, or noise ingress, around certain frequencies. That would reduce the signal quality "margin" on those particular channels.

to Ralph Carson

hey i've been noticing lately the on-air talent are decreasing reference to the "NewsCentral" brand of the newscast, now they are referring to just "WGXA FOX24" and "WGXA ABC16"; is there a possible change in the future at the station for the reason for the change?

I do not know the particulars of why that is. We are still News Central Georgia, but we sometimes identify as ABC 16 or Fox 24. This is to remind people that these are actually two different products, though very much interrelated. The two products appear at different times. on their respective channels. Of course, TV branding like TV programming changes from time to time in order to hold audience attention. That is quite normal, and should be expected.
